Environmental Policy
In the pursuit of our mission to provide world class chauffeur drive services, Carey England Limited recognises that in our day-to-day operations we inevitably impact on the environment in a number of ways. As a consequence of this, the management are committed to continuous improvements in environmental performance and prevention of pollution wherever and whenever possible.

Environmental regulations, laws and codes of practice will be regarded as setting the minimum standards of environmental performance.

Employee involvement in environmental matters is encouraged at all levels and is promoted through training, communications and a constant reappraisal of working methods and techniques.

In particular Carey is involved in the following initiatives:

- Regularly maintaining our vehicle fleet, with continual endeavours to operate our fleet at maximum utilisation to achieve optimum efficiency (all new vehicle acquisitions are to Euro 4 standard), and continually researching new developments and products relating to fuel efficiency. We also work constantly with Daimler Chrysler on their latest technology developments in their Mercedes Benz vehicles
- Eliminating the carbon footprint of our vehicle fleet. In partnership with The CarbonNeutral Company we invest in two projects around the world to eliminate the effect of our fleet on the environment in both the short-term and long-term. As climate change is a global issue and Carey is the worlds largest chauffeured services franchise system, we have this year again chosen geographically disparate projects.
Our 2008 portfolio includes building wind farms in the states of Rajasthan, Gujarat and Karnataka in India, one of the world's fastest growing economies. These turbines will have a combined capacity of 147MW and will replace the requirement for coal powered generators. In addition we are also planting and regenerating a forest in Snowdonia, Wales, a project that will link two existing national nature reserves through a new native woodland
- Providing One water in all Carey vehicles as the chosen complimentary water. One donates all its profits to the building of roundabout powered PlayPumps™ in African villages that have no easy access to clean drinking water. In September 2006 PlayPumps™ International was pledged support at the Clinton Global Initiative by the US government, The Case Foundation and The MCJ Foundation.
In February 2008, Carey will travel to Africa to assist with the installation of its inaugural PlayPump funded entirely from the supply of complimentary One water in the Carey England fleet.
- Head Office electricity supply is generated from wind turbines. In partnership with Ecotricity, 30% of our electricity is supplied from wind farms, and Ecotricity then invests all it’s profits into developing renewable energy sources to further increase the availability of green energy
- Operating a company policy of “Reduce-Reuse-Recycle”, whereby we recycle office consumables such as paper, plastic and cans in association with Greener World recycling. All our paper and cardboard is taken to Aylesford to be pulped into recycled paper, our cans go to Cheshire to be recycled into new cans, and our plastic goes to Peterborough to be recycled into coat hangers and pens

The directors and senior managers of Carey England Limited are committed to the implementation of this policy and will give full backing to all those authorised to fulfil its objectives.
